Gas Spring
Struts, are quite often referred to as "Hydraulics", "Lift Thingies", "Holderupy Things",plus a host
of other names as well Gas Springs have been around for a long time and manufactured by
different companies, some are engineered to create a fast lift and some the reverse.Generally all lift struts
should be fitted BODY ABOVE SHAFT,with the rod pointing down and the reason for this is to
create a dampening effect to the last 20% of lift and to give lubrication to the seal.We see a lot of
struts that have been fitted incorrectly and causing premature failure of the strut. Also we find
struts that have had the shaft clamped with pliers,to prevent the strut collapsing and in most
cases it destroys the strut in the process. We also find mismatched struts when we are
servicing units, each strut (and there are thousands made)is made to match a specific task, even if
you have a strut that appears to from the same make of vehicle,IE Chevrolet Camaro models
have several hood struts all to lift a different weight and so on,customers come to me and say I
bought a pair 6 months ago and they didn't last and in some cases they where not the correct load
rating for that purpose. That's where Strutwise does work for you,we can convert lift struts to a
Heavy duty application,IE Porsche 911 Hood and Trunk Struts are an example to name a few. With
large manufactures it is not economical for them to make and keep every model in
production and that's when it becomes difficult for you to find a replacement.Strutwise has found
why a lot of people use all sorts of devices to hold up there sagging Hoods,Hatches,is the cost
of replacing them.Plus the added danger of your stick breaking and fumbling around in the
dark and mini van rear doors are heavy. For example most SUV heavy doors are lifting over 300lbs
